Obituary for William True "Bill" Goff Jr.

William True "Bill" Goff Jr.
William True Goff, Jr., a longtime resident of Washington, Maine, passed away on December 10, 2012, at Penobscot Bay Hospital after a short illness. He was 80 years old.
Born on August 26, 1932 in Windsor, ME, Mr. Goff was the son of William True Goff Sr. and Ruth Colby Goff. Upon graduation from Cony High School in 1951, Mr. Goff married the love of his life, Marjorie Ames, in 1952. He started his career with Central Line and in 1960 he and his wife moved their growing family to Monroe, NY and then to Wallkill, NY, where they raised their six children. In 1966 Mr. Goff took a job with APA Transport in Maybrook, NY. Mr. Goff was a member of Teamsters Local 445 and retired from APA Transport in New York in 1995 after 29 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, he and his wife retired back to their homestead on Washington Pond in Maine.
Mr. Goff was a member of the Naval Reserve. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1952 to 1954, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Masons Mount Olivet Lodge #203 in Washington, VFW Post #9437, and the Teamsters Local 445 Retirees Association. He was past president of the Washington Hill & Gully Riders snow mobile club, a post he held for nine years.
Mr. Goff dedicated his life to his family and leaves a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by Marjorie Ames Goff, his adored wife of 60 years, and their six children: William True III and Emily of Littleton, CO; Vicki and Bill Gentile of Milford, PA; Randy and Kathy Goff of Middletown, NY; Tammy and Joe Argento of Clintondale, NY; Greg and Cathy Goff of Clifton, VA; and Jeff Goff of Alexandria, VA. To cherish his memory, he also leaves his loving grandchildren: Kyle Goff, Ruthanne Goff, Michael Gentile, Anthony Gentile, Christine Caminito, Bernadette Goff, Matthew Goff, Caitlin Goff, Christopher Argento, Jessica Argento, Brandon Argento, Ryan Goff, and MaryKate Goff. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Sophia and Noah Gentile, Serenity Terwilliger, and Luca Caminito. Survivors also include his sisters - Mary Peabody, Sandra Pierce, and Dorothy “Dot” Kaler - and many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Raymond Brann, Warren Brann, Walter Brann, Clarence “Shrimp” Brann, and Newman “Buster” Brann.
Bill Goff was a man who loved unconditionally and lived generously. He brought joy to all who knew him and never tired of laughing with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. His greatest days were those he spent on his beloved Washington Pond with his wife and family. He was honest, hardworking, and fair, and he cared deeply for his family and friends. He will be missed by the many, many people who knew and loved him, but his legacy will live on through the children and grandchildren who adored him.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, at Hall Funeral Home 949 Main St Waldoboro, ME. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00pm; A Masonic service will be held at 2:45pm and the funeral will be held at 3:00pm.
