Obituary for Frederick C. "Rick" Kopishke Jr.

Frederick C. "Rick" Kopishke Jr.
Frederick C. “Rick” Kopishke, Jr., 68 of Washington, passed away on November 28, 2017 at the Sussman House in Rockport, with his family by his side. He was born on September 27, 1949 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Frederick C. Kopishke, Sr. and Bertha (Schumski) Kopishke.

Rick grew up in Beacon Falls, Connecticut and graduated from Naugatuck High School Class of 1967. He worked as a sheet metal worker for Sikorsky Aircraft over 14 years (1967-1981). He left Connecticut in 1981 and moved to Washington, Maine where he worked for his father-in-law at Overlock Agway and ran Overlock Agway for a short period of time. Lastly he worked for Union Agway until he retired.
He was a member of the Hill and Gully Riders Snowmobile Club in Washington, where he was the Trailmaster. He was always willing and ready to help people and local organizations with whatever was needed. He loved fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, and family activities. He helped build his house, remodel the Overlock homestead for his son’s family and establish his daughter in her home. He was a very out-going, generous man. He was also selfless, honest, an animated storyteller, talker, and a kid at heart.
Rick was predeceased by his parents and sister Kim Kopishke.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Hazel Kopishke of Washington, son Matthew and wife B.J. of Liberty, daughter Heidi Kopishke of Nobleboro, grandtwins Tanner and Abigail Kopishke of Liberty, sister Gail Dube and husband Thomas of Naugatuck, CT, sister Dawn Wisniewski and husband Rick of Beacon Falls, CT, niece Wendy Cello and husband Brian of Meriden, CT, nephew Jacob Wisniewski and wife Sarah of Southbury, CT, and nephew Luke Wisniewski of CT.
