Obituary for Henry Maurice Landemare

Henry Maurice Landemare
Dr. Henry Maurice Landemare, Jr., age 85, died on November 28, 2017. He was born in Newark, NJ on April 14, 1932 to Henry Maurice Landemare, Sr. and Helen Leona Landemare.

Maurice graduated from Chatham High School in Chatham, NJ in 1950. He attended Rutgers University and graduated with a degree in Ceramic Engineering. Upon graduating, he served in the United States Air Force where he became a pilot and flight instructor during the Korean War. In 1963, Maurice graduated top of his class from Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry where he earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He enjoyed practicing dentistry for a remarkable 51 years.

Maurice was an extraordinary man with a creative and adventurous spirit. In his youth he achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Through his training he developed his deep appreciation and love of nature and learned the value of community and charity. His innumerable interests and activities included hiking, sailing, acoustic guitar, lacrosse, skiing, and choral singing. Many of these interests were carried into his adult life.

Maurice was active in the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, NJ for 30 years where he served as a deacon, elder, youth leader, and member of the choir. Upon moving to Maine, he continued his commitment to his faith as an active member of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. In service to his community, he was proud to be one of the original members of the “Woodchucks”, a volunteer service group who help community by providing firewood for those in need.

Maurice was predeceased by his parents and his first wife of 15 years, Nadine Delores Landemare.

Maurice will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Susan Landemare and by his children Henry “Hank” Maurice Landemare, III, Holly Louise Head and her husband Paul, Hillary Landemare Parker, and Amy Christine Morrison and her husband John. He will also be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren: Henry Landemare, IV, Paul Head III, Georgina Head, Bradley Parker, Jr., Graham Parker, John Morrison, Jr. and Avery Morrison.

A service to celebrate Maurice’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 9, 2017 at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. A reception will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. In lasting memory, gifts may be made to the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor or the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council.
