Obituary for Ruth Ann Riley (Dodge)

Ruth Ann Riley (Dodge)
Ruth Ann Riley, 75, went to her heavenly home on February 13th, 2018 with her loving family by her side after a battle with multiple health issues. Ruth Ann was born on November 11th, 1942 in Rockland, Maine to parents Vernon and Ruth E. (Flinton) Dodge.

After attending local schools Ruth’s major goals in life were the raising of her children and working to support them. Ruth did many jobs throughout her lifetime including being a waitress, a cook, packing sardines at the local sardine factories, Van Ballen’s clothing factory, as well as working in the local nursing homes as a CNA/caregiver. Ruth even took a turn as a brick layer and a concrete foundation sealer.

In Ruth’s spare time she enjoyed painting watercolors, crocheting, cooking, camping, visiting light houses and settling down with a good book to read. Her collections of light houses and teddy bears were always enjoyed by her family.

Ruth enjoyed being a member of AA, VFW auxiliary, The Daisy’s (as a young girl), The Pilgrims Community Church (her pride and joy), where she could be referred to as Ruthie, Angel, The Teddy Bear Lady, Mom, Nana and Great Nana.

Ruth always wanted to support the local non- profit agencies. She took pride in donating to the area’s Veterans groups, Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Breast Cancer Survivors, and Alzheimer’s support groups.
Left to cherish her memories are her Son Timothy Riley of Portland, ME her daughters Tammy Armstrong and husband Chris of Washington, Me. along with Ruthie Gene Lovelace of Dixfield, ME.
