Barbara Louise Fossett, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 15, 2014. She was born on October 24, 1917 the daughter of the late George and Eva (Kelley) Granger in Boothbay Harbor. During her childhood the family moved to Randolph where she attended local schools before returning to Boothbay at the age of 17.
After high school she met and married Carleton W. Reed at the age of 19. Her career was spent around helping people. Barbara worked as a Deputy Sherriff for 20 years and also spent some time working for the Boothbay Harbor Police department. She was a dispatcher for both the Police and Fire Departments and spent time with the Midcoast Law Enforcement Agency finally retiring as a dispatcher.
Barbara was a member and past president of the American Legion Post 36 as well as a member of the VFW auxiliary. One of her proudest accomplishments was the she was a charter member of the Boothbay Harbor Ambulance.
Barbara loved to travel and made three trips to Ireland, as well as trips to Florida, California, and Texas to visit with her family. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and would make a lot of clothes for her family members. Barbara could also be seeing dancing the night away when the VFW would host public dances.
She is predeceased by her first husband Carleton Reed, and second Husband Kenneth Fossett.
Brothers Donald, John, Alfred, and Burton Granger, and sister Florence Robinson.
Survivors include her daughters April Ellen Danielson of Boothbay Harbor & Karen Lynne Reed of Boothbay Harbor. Sister Lilla M. Courtney of San Antonio Texas. 6 Grandchildren, 11 Great Children, 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 26, 2014 at 1pm at Hall Funeral Home of Boothbay 975 Wiscasset Rd with Pastor Ami Sawtelle officiating.
