Marguerite Guilmette Sherman (Guilmette)
Marguerite “Peggy” Guilmette Sherman was born on May 28, 1928 in Berlin, New Hampshire. After a long and successful life in Boothbay Harbor, Maine and a comfortable stay at Chase Point Assisted Living in Damariscotta, Maine, she passed away on April 14, 2016 at the age of 87. She fought a valiant fight to the end and showed us all what it means to be strong.

Marguerite was one of twelve children born to Elzear and Marie Anna Tousignant Guilmette and was raised at 88 Jasper Street in Berlin, New Hampshire. She was a graduate of the Maine Eye and Ear Institute in Portland, Maine and achieved the level of Registered Nurse, serving at St. Andrew’s Hospital in West Boothbay Harbor, Maine and St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. She was an ardent supporter of the March of Dimes and the American Lung Association.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred B. Sherman of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, her brothers Roland, Albert, Robert, Paul, and Ernest, her sisters Blanche and Jeanette, and her grandson B.J. Sherman of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She is survived by her sister, Florence Jutras of Enfield, Connecticut, brother in law, Lionel Roy of Berlin, New Hampshire, sister, Jackie and her husband, Romeo Morin of Berlin, New Hampshire, sister, Theresa and her husband, Leo Vezina of Ellington, Connecticut and brother, Lucien Guilmette and his wife, Louise of Concord, New Hampshire. She is also survived by the seven children she raised: Barry Sherman of Boothbay, Maine, Linda Sherman of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Paul Sherman and his wife, Joni of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Andy Sherman and his wife, Kathie of Hobe Sound, Florida, Dan Sherman and his wife, Lita of Atlantic Beach, Florida, Mike Sherman and his wife, Bonnie of Newnan, Georgia, Russell Sherman and his wife, Pam of Sebastipol, California, as well as 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

As she wished, a graveside service will be held at a future date at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Berlin, New Hampshire.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to any of the following: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund or the St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop, Berlin, New Hampshire.

Hall’s of Boothbay has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences, light a candle for Marguerite, or to share a story or pictures, visit her Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com
