Howard S. "Yogi" Leino
Howard “Yogi” S. Leino, 65, died July 23, 2016 at the Sussman House in Rockport. He was born January 16, 1951 in Quincy, Massachusetts to Edward J. Leino and Mildred Tierila Leino. Howard attended Warren grade schools, Rockland Junior High School, and graduated from Rockland High School in the Class of 1970.
Howard served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1975. He worked as boilermaker and foreman for several companies including South Bay Boiler, National City Company, San Diego Gas & Electric from 1975 to 2015. He also worked as a Power Plant Operator and Trainee.
Howard’s artistic creativity was vast and included metal sculpture, jewelry making, painting, arms manufacturing, distilled spirits and cannon making.
He is survived by a sister, Alexandra Perry-Weiss and her husband Erick of Bristol; Brother, George Leino of Friendship; Nephews, James Perry and his wife Karen of Bath, Jody Perry and his wife Linda of Waldoboro; Niece, Jennifer Andrews and her husband Tim of Nobleboro, and seven great nephews. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Brenda Leino.
A graveside service to celebrate Howard’s life will be held 2:30 p.m. August 6th at the Fairview Cemetery in Warren. Should friends desire, contributions in Howard’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Road, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
