Obituary for
Beatrice C. Rochon (Hupper)
Beatrice C. Rochon passed away August 20, 2016. She was born May 31, 1931 in Rockland, ME to Asaheland Noel (Wentworth) Hupper. She was raised by her grandparents Charles and Emma Hupper.
Beatrice graduated from St. George High School in 1949. She married William Rochon in 1950 and enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her family of three boys, while the family lived in Union, ME and Barre, VT. When the boys were in school, she went to work as a Teacher’s Aide in Speech Therapy andReading for the Barre City School System for 19 years before her retirement in 1992.
Bea, as she liked to be called, was very involved with her family’s activities attending the sporting events of her three sons. She kept close ties to her roots in Port Clyde and visited family and friends often, making the long trip from Barre Vermont. Bea loved to knit, crochet and sew, making many of her own clothes and drapes. In retirement, she donated hundreds of pairs of mittens and afghans to the Thompson Community Center and Pen Bay Medical Center.
Beatrice was preceded in death by: her parents; husband of 61 years, William Rochon; and brothers Walter Hupper and Dale Hupper. She is survived by: her three sons Donald Rochon and his wife Katherine of Houston, TX, James Rochon and his significant other Corena Hill of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Joseph Rochon and his wife Suzanne of Cumberland, ME; sister Elaine Hilchey and her husband Daniel of Martinsville, ME; cousin Emma Teel of Owls Head, ME; grandsons Eric Rochon of Houston, TX, Andrew Rochon and his wife Katrina of Houston, TX, Timothy Rochon of Corinth, NY, Cole Rochon of Cumberland, ME, and Chase Rochon and his wife Karalee of Cambridge, MA; great-grandchildren Devin Rochon of Corinth, NY, Donovan Rochon of Corinth, NY, Norah Bella Rochon of Houston, TX, and Jackson Rochon of Corinth, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home in Thomaston at 78 Main Street followed by a graveside service at Ridge Cemetery in Tenants Harbor at 2:15.
