Condolence From: Alvin Mank
Condolence: Doug was a person who had the ability to know the practical common sense of life in what was needed and how to do it. That’s why I chose Doug to be my mentor. I did not have any farming experience, so I would ask Doug many questions and was thankful for his advice. One question I had was how to shingle a building. Doug not only explained how to shingle, but he came with his hammer to help. Helping was the friendship side of Doug that made him feel more like family. Playing pool and chicken foot with dominoes was always a great time to be with Doug. A sound that I will miss is Doug on his little Cadet tractor with a trailer. I would hear the sound of a struggling tractor coming up the road over a hill. The sound wasn’t moving very fast and that was when you knew it was Doug. Soon Doug would pop up from over the hill and turn into the driveway with items from his garden. Doug will be missed but the hope we have in our salvation in Christ is assuring that we will see Doug again.
