Obituary for Doris Irene Small

Doris Irene  Small
Doris Irene Small passed away Friday January 13th, 2017 at the Hawthorne House in Freeport. She was born on July 31, 1926 in Weymouth, Massachusetts to Harry and Hetty (Feist) Parr.

She attended Hampton Academy in Hampton, New Hampshire, graduating in 1944.

She was employed at various different places over the years with her main occupation as wife and Mother
Hobbies included knitting, sewing, painting and many other crafts. She always said she dabbled in everything and excelled in none.

“Dolly” was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1995, beloved grandson Brandon on December 21st, 2016, brothers Harry, Richard and Robert and sister Veronica.

She is survived by her sister Evelyn Lorraine Busch of Exeter, N.H., son Fred and wife Sylvia Small of Damariscotta, daughter Betsy and husband Ben of Nobleboro, grandchildren Chris, Michelle, Laura, Krystal and Nathaniel. 7 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Dolly was a very loved and fun loving person. She was her happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends. She loved reminiscing about her large family and family and friend gatherings. She always said, “ we didn't have much money but we had so much fun and love for each other". She was famous for taking in nieces, nephews and friends for summer vacations or if they needed a place to stay.

There will be a memorial service and celebration of her life on January 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church in Damariscotta Mills, Maine with the Reverend David O’Donnell officiating.

Interment will be May 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sea View Cemetery in Rockland, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
