My brother Eric's favorite teacher, Herr Krebs, also became a friend to the entire family. He hosted the most outstanding evening of the school year- The German Honor Society Ball.
I will miss you and your smile while we talked to each other with your family when you all come into the First National Bank here in Boothbay Harbor, I will cherish the drawings that you gave me :)
We were both students of Herr Krebs in Junior High and High School, and both members of the German Honor Society. He was a wonderful teacher who was completely devoted to his students. Always a kind and thoughtful gentleman!

Everyone has a favorite teacher from high school, that teacher who always made time for you, who always brought out your best, who always was the kindest in all ways--he was that teacher for me. Herr was the only teacher that I had all four years of high school and we shared so great many memories through German class and National German Honor Society. I can remember how devoted he was to all of us and he truly cared as we became young adults. His humor was the best and we used to try to trick him into saying aluminum, which was always funny as he said it the British way. There were so many wonderful times; he was truly that rock for me through high school, where I could go for support. When I think of best teaching practices and myself as a teacher, he was my role model. We corresponded over the years but we lost touch as I married and had children so he never knew I went on to become a teacher. It truly saddens me to know that we lost such a good, kind man. My heart is broken. Rest in peace, Herr; you are remembered.
Rest In Peace, Herr!!!! You were an amazing teacher! Your care, compassion, understanding and ability to see the good in all of your students made you the highly respected and loved person that you were. Herr Krebs was my favorite teacher. I even wrote my college essay about him and how he inspired me. I never ever wanted to disappoint him. Rest in peace.

The biggest highlight of my Jr. High and High School years, other than playing softball and basketball, was this man. Herr Krebs is the finest example that I can think of of the incredible impact a teacher can have on his/her students. A very cultured and well-spoken man, he not only taught us the German language; he taught us about the finer things, like dancing a waltz to "The Blue Danube;" and also taught us about the funnier things, like dubbing a Three Stooges episode into German (I was the voice of Moe). I know my former classmates join with me in sorrow at his passing.
Danke, Lehrer...
